EastWest sees strong adoption of digital account opening on EasyWay
Taguig City, Philippines – EastWest is making it even easier for Filipinos to access banking products through EasyWay, its digital banking app, which now enables customers to open savings accounts and apply for credit cards directly from their mobile devices.
Since the introduction of digital account opening, 47% of new accounts have been opened through EasyWay, highlighting customers' growing preference for the convenience of digital onboarding.
The momentum comes as Filipinos continue to embrace digital financial services. According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, digital payments accounted for 64.7% of transactions in 2025, up from 57.4% in 2024. This reflects the growing use of online and mobile channels for everyday financial transactions.
“Many customers want a simpler way to start saving or access credit without disrupting their day. By bringing account opening and credit card applications through EasyWay, we're removing unnecessary friction and making it easier for customers to act on their financial goals whenever and wherever,” said EastWest CEO Jerry G. Ngo.
Through EasyWay, eligible customers can open savings accounts digitally using a valid ID, while existing users can open additional peso and foreign currency deposit accounts. Customers may also apply for EastWest credit cards, submit requirements, and complete identity verification directly through the app.
